However, English was not the first Westerner to learn about Kevum; it was the Portuguese. When they were served Kevum during their first meeting with Sinhalese kings, they were so impressed they wanted to know which tree grew this tasty “fruit.” They just couldn’t believe these Kevum were handmade!
